Southampton Maritime Festival, Friday 22 & Saturday 23 August
Southampton Celebrates 50 years of City Status in 2014 and the celebrations include a fantastic 2-day Maritime Festival which happen to coincide with the Friday and Saturday of GJW Direct SailFest.

Heritage vehicles on display and afloat there will be a number of historic boats to explore including HMS Medusa, SS Shiledhall and the tall ship Tenacious. Loads of displays and interactive activities ashore and afloat will keep the family entertained for the day, even the opportunity to pre-book a FREE open-top bus ride around some of the City's historic sites.
Live entertainment and a kids zone ashore run alongside loads of attractions and demonstrations. And of course, the city centre is only a few minutes walk away with a huge array of shops, restaurants and facilities.

At 2.30pm on Saturday visitors to the City will be treated to a flypast by a Spitfire & Hurricane. Southampton has a long heritage with the Spitfire with the earliest production being locally based.
