The Scottish Sailing Institute is based in Largs Sailing Club which has one of the best clubhouses in the countrywhich is the envy of many clubs across the country.
The clubhouse was purpose built in 1999 with the support of national lottery funding and it boasts a large Bar/Restaurant which overlooks the Largs Channel and provides spectacular views of the race area and the local scenery. Food is served daily and can be arranged to meet your needs from snacks to full scale fine dining. The main lounge can also be used for a variety of social functions if required, and is fully wheelchair accessible.
The facilities available to class associations during major events includes office space, photocopying, internet and telephone access and these can easily be enhanced if required by the addition of a marquee and portable office space adjacent to the club building, allowing large social functions, meetings and prize givings to take place. The close proximity of these “add-ons” maintains the clubhouse as the focus for your event.
Additionally the club can provide lecture rooms for both wet and dry sailors ideal for coaching purposes and some last minute pre-event fine tuning of competitors. The facilities available for coaches include an overhead projector, data projector, laptop computer and wireless broadband internet connection as well as the usual whiteboards etc.

On site dinghy parking, launching and changing facilities are available for 300+ boats (depending on the class), with the dinghy parks and launch ramps located close to the clubhouse.
The Scottish Sailing Institute and Largs Sailing Club are based in the grounds of Largs Yacht Haven, one of Scotland’s premier marinas. This location offers numerous benefits to regatta competitors and allows ample parking not only for cars but also for boats, trailers and Campervans/Caravans. Campervans can hook up to power within the Largs Yacht Haven site and there are numerous marine services available to competitors. These include a chandlery, a sail maker/repair service, marine engineering services, mast and rigging specialists and boat repair services. Spectators can also charter yachts from a number of commercial organisations for an even better view of the race area.
Support boats can be launched and berthed by prior arrangement in the marina making it easy for coaches and supporters to get out to the race area without having to launch each day.
During major events camping is available around 1km away from the clubhouse, in the picturesque Kelburn Country Estate, complete with its own castle and splendid views over the Firth of Clyde and associated islands.
