Find out more about the activities that are going on at SailFest!
SailRacer have got together with the on-site partners at Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy, the SailFest Venue, to make sure the whole family has an opportunity to get involved. Activity sport tasters are being offered over the 4 days of SailFest for just a nominal booking fee, to a maximum of £25 per session.
Not wanting those competing to feel left out of the fun on the shore, it is planned that racing can be completed early each day (aiming to finish racing by 3pm) to enable the sailors to try something new themselves, or enjoy time with family taking part in the activities.
(Costs, timings, age restrictions and durations may vary depending upon the activity so please check the details for each before booking.)
OTC will run 90 minute windsurfing sessions at 10am, 12noon, 2pm and 4pm on all 4 days of SailFest. All equipment and clothing (wetsuits and buoyancy aids) is included. For this activity there is a minimum age of 8 years and a requirement to be able to swim 25m confidently.

Rock-Climbing £22 and Mountain Biking £22
Also run by Weymouth College, the rock-climbing and mountain-biking experiences will be held out on the stunning natural terrain of Portland itself (meeting in the Academy building). The ½ day sessions run from 10am – 1pm and 2pm - 5pm Friday to Monday (all 4 days of SailFest) for both of these activities and all equipment is provided. Suitable comfortable clothing and shoes are required and you may wish to bring your own cycle helmet. Minimum age of 8 years for either activity.
Weymouth College run activity sessions at WPNSA all year round, with clubs for children as young as 5 (NB minimum age 8 for SailFest) to adult adventure programmes. As their Adventure Manager says, “Portland has more than just world class sailing going for it. It is also a natural playground for a whole variety of adventure sports. Weymouth College is proud to be able to offer this opportunity and look forward to helping you experience this beautiful island.”
