The 2013 Régate Annuelle en Mer of the Société Nautique de Genève (SNG) will be sailed in Helsinki 27-28 July 2013 prior to the 8mR Worlds. The regatta will be hosted by SNG at Helsingfors Segelsällskap (HSS) in Liuskasaari, Helsinki and sailed by the 8mRs.

The Régate en Mer has been organized annually by SNG at a yacht club located by a sea after the deed of gift of the Americas Cup was amended so that Switzerland could participate in the Americas Cup, provided that they organize a regatta annually at sea. This amendment was made after the Australians won the America's Cup in the early 1980's and accepted to amend the deed of gift. This allowed Switzerland to enter the America's Cup in 1987. Switzerland held since then the America's Cup from 2003 until 2010 after Alinghi from SNG won the America's Cup. The Chairman of the America's Cup Committee Mr. Fred Meyer says: "I am very thankful to our friends at the HSS to help us organize this regatta with SNG."

The Chairman of the Organizing Committee Julia Ormio says: "We are honoured that SNG chose HSS as the venue of the Régate Annuelle en Mer this year. The spice of the America's Cup this will definitely add some excitement to the upcoming 8mR Worlds. Also for most of us this is probably the closest we will ever come to the America's Cup."
