Open Europeans gets praise from Petersson

Goran Petersson, the president of the International Sailing Federation ISAF is very pleased with the way the Open Europeans Helsinki 2011 has started.

He's especially delighted about the unique atmosphere at the event.

– It's great to have so many classes competing in the same place. This is also good for the spectators, because there's so much happening all the time. As a result, hopefully more and more people will become interested in sailing.

Petersson has been the president of ISAF from 2004. On Friday he attended the official opening ceremony of the Open Europeans at Hernesaari. On Saturday Petersson had more time to follow the races.

– Hernesaari is an excellent venue for this kind of an event. There's no tide to worry about, and it stays very bright long into the evening. And of course it's special to be able to view the races from the shore, without having to go out to the sea.
