Women's Match Racing advances to semi-final stage

There are only four teams left in the women's Match Racing event. The semi-finalists were decided on Saturday in sunny weather at Open Europeans Helsinki.

The tightest battle was fought between Anne-Claire Le Berre (FRA) and Silvia Roca Mata (ESP). Le Berre's team lead 2-0, but Roca Mata snatched the next three starts and came through as the winner. Fellow Spaniard Tamara Echegoyen beat local favourite Silja Lehtinen with three wins against one.

The Netherlands' Mandi Mulder gave no chance to her opponent, Olivia Price of Australia. Mulder's team advanced to the semi-finals with three straight wins.

Also Russia's Ekaterina Skudina and her crew were in excellent form. They didn't allow Rita Goncalves (POR) a single win, defeating the Portuguese team 3-0.
