Open Europeans about to begin

All is set at Hernesaari for the Open European Championships in Olympic classes 2011 held in Helsinki, Finland. The event will begin with the Women's Match Race on Thursday 30 June at 10 o'clock.

Among the teams from 10 countries are the defending champion Ekaterina Skudina (RUS) and the hometown favourite Silja Lehtinen (FIN). On Sunday 3 July it will be decided who are going to be crowned as the new European champions.

On Wednesday the teams were practicing at the venue in Hernesaari in excellent conditions. Weather in Helsinki is currently sunny and warm, which should help draw the crowds to Hernesaari to enjoy exciting races and a great atmosphere.

The match races will take place on the waters close to shore allowing great views for the spectators. All in all Open Europeans 2011 promises to be a great event for the public as well as the sailors.
