We hereby invite all Olympic Classes to join us in hosting the Open European Championships in Olympic classes 2011.
The Open Europeans will be the pinnacle event in the Northern Hemisphere summer, the Worlds being sailed in December in Australia. The Europeans will be positioned between Kiel week and the Weymouth test event. Convenient transportation to the continent and Great Britain is available.
The venue will be made compact, still offering enough space for all classes. All necessary service will be provided in the area accommodation excluded. The venue is 2 km from the city centre. Thus accommodation, restaurants, and shops will be found within walking distance.
Up to eight course areas will be available. Five to six classes may race simultaneously. Wind and light conditions enable effective use of racing areas. This means that two classes easily can share one course area during the long sailing days.
The central course area is just outside the venue. The prevailing wind is the sea breeze. The two Club islands at the venue form a grand stand overlooking the start and finishing area.
Invited International Race Officers will attend every race. Every race will be managed by a experienced team.
A sufficient number of panels with International Judges (at least 30 in total) will be established.
Social events will be negotiated with classes.
The press service will consist of sufficient working space, Wi-Fi connections, online result service and sufficient number of press boats.
The quotas will be will be managed by the classes. The total number will be negotiated between class and organizers.
The classes are: Match Women, Laser Radial, Laser Standard, Star, 49er, Finn, 470 Women, 470 Men & Mixed.
