Day 4: Breeze up and racing due to start at 1100

Reports from the race course early this morning show a steady 9kts of breeze on the race course which means the plan is to start racing at the re-scheduled time of 1100.

Eager to fit in as many of the remaining qualifying races as possible, the race committee have released competitors from the beach and many are already on their way out to the start area.

There is a definite buzz in the air this morning as competitors rush around the dinghy park making final preparations for what could be another long day on the water.

The Boys’ fleet have one more race to complete their four-race qualification series. The Girls’ fleet have already completed their minimum number of races but the race committee hopes to fit in as many races as possible.

Fully refreshed from a long day yesterday Manami Doi (JPN) says she is eager to get back on the water today. With a string of three first places to count, Doi is the overnight leader in the Girls’ fleet but has to keep a weather eye on her closest rival at this stage – Erika Reineke (USA). Reineke is just one point astern but is a real force to be reckoned with.

Giovanni Coccoluto (ITA) with a win and a fifth who now leads the Boys’ fleet by two points from Paul Leroy (FRA), while Elliot Hanson (GBR) in third, and John Currie (GBR) fourth, are looking to improve and continue to fly the home waters’ flag with some good results again today.

More news from the racecourse later.
