Day 2: Another windless morning in Largs

The wind situation in Largs continues to dominate proceedings at the Laser Radial Youth World Championship.

Lack of wind once again, has forced the race committee to postpone this morning’s re-scheduled 1100 start until the breeze fills in, hopefully later in the day.

Winds of less than 5kts in the race area, and persistent rain means the 320 young sailors, coaches and friends and family are enjoying the fantastic facilities at Largs Sailing Club and the surrounding yacht haven area but frustration of not being able to race is starting to set in.

The young Finnish sailor – Ida Wasstrom – said: “This is my first international regatta and I am so looking forward to actually starting a race in such a big fleet. It is very unfortunate we have no wind but there’s nothing we can do other than wait patiently for the wind to arrive – hopefully this afternoon.”

If the wind materialises later today, the plan is to complete three back-to-back races, and then continue the race programme of two races a day, tomorrow (Thursday).
