Sailors ready for the off at WPNSA

The Sail for Gold Regatta 2013, the third stage of the EUROSAF Champions Sailing Cup, kicks off tomorrow (Sunday 9 June) at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy with 195 sailors from 22 Nations ready to battle it out for event honours.

Tim Hall, Sail for Gold Event Director, commented: “Sailors have been arriving at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy over the last week with event registration and measurement taking place today. There has been a real buzz around the dinghy park over the last few days with some familiar faces from last summer’s Olympic and Paralympic Games and some fresh faces who are new to the Olympic circuit which is great to see.”

“The conditions over the last couple of days have been great, in particular today where we have had non-stop sunshine and a good breeze for sailors to really test themselves ahead of tomorrow’s opening race of the regatta. Sailors have been fine tuning their boats whilst going over some last minute routines out in the Bay, whilst our volunteers and event staff are fully briefed and ready to deliver a world class sailing event and fantastic experience for everyone involved this week here in Weymouth and Portland.”
