Welcome to the 470 Class 50th Anniversary

From 27 July to 11 August 2013, the world of 470 sailing will descend on La Rochelle, France to celebrate 50 years of the 470 Class. Designed by Andre Cornu in 1963, France has very much been the "home" of the 470, so it is appropriate that it will play host to the 50th Anniversary Celebrations.

The Celebrations will kick off with the 2013 470 Junior Worlds from 27 July - 3 August, which will run concurrently with the 470 Masters' Cup from 27 July to 3 August.

Registration and measurement for the 2013 470 World Championships will take place from 1-4 August, giving plenty of time for the junior and masters teams to join the racing which gets underway on 5 August 2013.

Ahead of the 470 Worlds, Sunday 4 August will host the 470 Legends Trophy, which will bring together past World and Olympic Champions in a celebration of their achievements and the class, but in a full-on racing format.

The 470 50th Anniversary Cup, on Saturday 3 August, is open to all teams to compet and will be a test of endurance and stamina with a long distance race. The evening of Saturday 3 August will play host to the 470 50th Anniversary Official Dinner.

Alongside the racing, a range of shorebased activities will be on offer with an Anniversay Village, Exhibition, Concours d'Elegance and Jumble Sale.

Highlights of racing will be shown on a large screen in the Village and sailors will be interviewed.

The history of the 470 Class over the past fifty years has been recorded in a book, which will be on sale. Advanced orders are recommended and will be available online soon.

Online entry for all events and tickets to attend the 50th Anniversary Dinner will be online soon.
