Dust off your Mirror and do your first National Championships.

The 2012 Mirror Nationals will be a fun family friendly championship and is ideal for those considering doing their first Championships.

So, whether you are sailing with your parents or with a friend give it a go. Some of the greatest British Olympic sailors started out sailing a home build wooden mirror, with their parents.

My dad used to say to me that if I learnt to sail a Mirror fast I could sail anything fast – and he was right.

In 2012 Itchenor Sailing Club will be hosting the 2012 Mirror National Championships. The protected waters of Chichester Harbour are an ideal venue for sailors doing their first championships.

There is something for the whole family as Itchenor is near the blue flag beaches of Wittering, the rolling South Downs and  the market town of Chichester.  There is also a range of accommodation available locally and at the club itself. The club has a cosy bar, good food and a range of social activities.

At Itchenor we know what it is like to watch your friends and family go sailing. They get to have all the fun while you are left ashore. Well this time it could be you having the fun watching them sail while you soak up the sunshine on the beach. For the Mirror Nationals the sailing area is planned to be very close to East Head Beach, part of the famous Blue Flag Sandy Wittering beaches. While we can’t promise it will be sunny, there is plenty to do in the area. So check out the event web site which has information on holiday things to do locally.
