Last call for RYA Youth Nationals entries

Don’t miss out on the RYA’s premier youth racing regatta

The countdown to the 2017 RYA Youth National Championships is well underway, with just a few days left to enter the premier annual event for the UK’s young sailing talents.

Competitors have up until Sunday 12 March to sign up for the regatta, where RYA Youth National Champions will be crowned following racing on the waters of Haying Island between Monday 10 and Friday 14 April.

Racing will take place for under 21-year-old boys in Laser Standards, girls and boys in Laser Radials, Neil Pryde RS:X 8.5 and Techno 7.8 windsurfers, and for all-boy, all-girl and mixed crews in 420s, 29ers and Catamaran Handicap fleet.

Over 300 young sailors have already signed up for the 2017 edition, including international competition from Hong Kong and Ireland. The event forms part of the selection series for the British Youth Sailing Team for the summer, including grants and places for international events.

RYA Youth Racing Manager Mark Nicholls said: “We’re very much looking forward to what I’m sure will be another great RYA Youth Nationals as we welcome the nations brightest and best talents to Hayling Island.

“The Youth Nationals sees not only high class racing from our top sailors vying for Championship honours, but it’s also a great opportunity for those making their first steps into youth boats to see what the event is all about”, added Nicholls.

RYA organisers are urging youth sailors to confirm their entries by the deadline of 2359hrs on Sunday 12 March. Due to the size and complexity of the event entries will not be accepted after this date.
